Meta: Ubisoft, one of the world’s biggest video game publishers, recently announced its second blockchain game, Champions Tactics: Grimoire Chronicles.

Ubisoft is one of the world’s biggest video game publishers, having created countless hit titles, such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.

The market-leading game development studio recently announced its second-ever blockchain game, Champions Tactics: Grimoire Chronicles. Here’s what we know so far.

What is Champions Tactics: Grimoire Chronicles?

The new Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles game is a Web3 game that will launch on the Oasys blockchain – a specialist blockchain for video games. This platform is backed by several video game publishers, including Ubisoft, Bandai Namco, Square Enix, and Sega.

It will be Ubisoft’s first partnership with Oasys blockchain.

Champions Tactics: Grimoire Chronicles (which many are already referring to simply as Champions Tactics) is an experimental Player vs Player (PvP) tactical role-playing game (RPG). It is currently in the development stages and will soon be available to play on dedicated gaming laptops and desktop computers.

It’s not so much of an esport betting game where you can win and lose money by placing wagers on the outcomes of certain Champions Tactics Esports events.

Instead, you will be able to make in-play purchases on things like NFTs (non-fungible tokens), skins, weapons, upgrades, etc. Players can buy and sell on the blockchain and even ‘play-to-earn’ NFTs.

When will Champions Tactics be released?

The official launch date for the new Champions Tactics: Grimoire Chronicles blockchain game has yet to be revealed. The only information released about when it might arrive is that it will be available ‘soon,’ which could be next month or in a few months’ time. It’s anybody’s guess.

What exactly is a blockchain game?

A blockchain game is essentially a video game that uses blockchain technology. In blockchain games, players can use cryptocurrencies to buy and sell items like NFTs and other in-game consumables.

When players buy items, the video game publisher, in this case, Ubisoft, earns a small transaction processing fee each time a transaction takes place.

In other words, the modern model of blockchain gaming allows companies to monetize their games and make a steady revenue, as opposed to the traditional model where companies would only get the one-off fees when players originally purchased the game.

What are the best blockchain games to play in 2023?

If you have a laptop or desktop PC with decent computing power and a stable internet connection, and you want to sample some of today’s best blockchain games, here are some of the best titles to keep an eye out for in 2023:

  • The sandbox

Are blockchain games the future of gaming?

If you look at current trends, it seems the future of blockchain gaming is bright.

It’s still early days, but experts predict that it will likely become more mainstream over the coming years, especially as today’s biggest video game development studios and publishers continue to delve deeper into the world of blockchain games.

In other words, we will likely see significant growth in the blockchain gaming sector over the coming years.
