Many people could agree that sleep nowadays has become a luxury because a lot of people could no longer afford it for various reasons. They are not poor people; they are people from all walks of life. This happened because people glorified working late at night. Some due to mobile devices fixation and the busyness and noise in the environment. A lot of reasons could keep people awake nowadays until the wee hours of the morning, thus losing the chance for a rejuvenated sleep.
Losing a good night’s sleep can negatively affect us physically, mentally, emotionally and even financially. This is how integral sleep is for overall health and well-being. Sleepless nights will mean less energy for the body making you look haggard and unhappy the whole day. When you are not getting enough sleep, your brain can’t function well because it will not be able to remove all the toxins that it accumulates throughout the day. Sleeping below the recommended number of hours will give you a negative feeling and worse it will cause health problems which might affect your finances if not treated in the long run.
To avoid these things from happening, here are a few tips that will effectively help us get a good sleep each night.
No caffeine at night. Caffeine is a stimulant and it takes about 4 to 6 hours before half of your caffeine consumption is metabolized by the body. Make sure what you drink or eat before going to bed is decaffeinated. If you can’t avoid caffeine, at least have your last caffeine fix for the day at noon to make sure it will never interfere your sleep at night.
Watch what you eat at dinner time. At dinner, we enjoy a quiet moment as we are about to conclude another challenging day. But before you sleep, it is important to eat the right foods which will not affect the quality of your sleep. A diet which contains fruits, veggies, whole grains, sea foods, and poultry can help your digestive system to work efficiently. Avoid processed carbohydrates and refrain from high sugary foods too, before bed time.
Keep your bedroom cozy. Your bedroom is your own personal space for rejuvenation and relaxation of the body and mind. As your own enclave, it is basic that you keep it clean, neat, cool, dark and noise-free to make it more conducive to sleep. Anything that can destruct you from getting quality sleep should not be brought inside the bedroom. Invest on good pillows and mattress, too. Adding a topper with gel memory foam will add a better support and comfort from head to toe.
Reset your body clock. One of the most effective tricks to have a good quality sleep is to reset your circadian rhythm. You can do this by having the discipline to sleep and wake up at the same times every day. Your body’s internal process will regulate this sleep-wake cycle so you can be sure you will get at least 7 hours of sleep every night. Stick to this schedule and you will never have to wake up at the wrong side of the bed.
