If you’re in the mood for a Spring clean, you’re in the right place! We’re here to introduce the best ways to organise your wardrobe, from the very first step to the final touches that will really bring your wardrobe to life. These are really simple things and won’t cost you anything, so this is your sign to put aside a few hours and to properly organise your wardrobe for good.
Start By Taking Everything Out
The first step you should take when it comes to the best ways to organise your wardrobe is to take everything out. It will take you so much longer if you try to leave everything in your wardrobe and organise it that way, so quite simply, take everything out of your wardrobe and drawers and put it on your bed or on the floor. Give a good clean of your wardrobe and drawers before you start putting anything back in.
Then, start organising your clothes, still out of your wardrobe. Sort your clothing, shoes and accessories into two main piles; keep and sell/donate. The pieces that you wear often and really love should go in the keep pile, then anything that doesn’t make you feel good or doesn’t fit well anymore should go in the sell/donate pile. You could sell your clothes on places like Ebay, Vinted or Depop to make a bit of extra money to spend on new clothes, or you could donate them to a charity shop. Put all of the sell/donate items into bin bags and place them in the corner, out of the way so you can carry on with the organising! Now it’s time to start putting everything back in.
Organise By Occasion
We find that the best way to organise your wardrobe is by occasion. That is, keeping all of your going out clothes like corset tops and skirts together, have a section for all of your workwear, a drawer for your gymwear, a drawer for your denim and a drawer for chunky jumpers. This is a great way to save time when you’re getting ready, as you simply look through that section and see what you want to wear.
If you have a more transitional wardrobe that features lots of different items that can be worn for many different occasions, organising by colour or type of clothing (e.g. having all your trousers, jumpers, shirts, skirts together) might be a better fit for you. No matter how you decide to organise, make sure that each piece of clothing has its own hanger if possible, make sure it’s all hung nicely to keep it in good condition and make sure that your wardrobe is well aerated. This will make daily life so much easier!
Display Your Favourite Items
Last but not least, to really bring your wardrobe to life, display your favourite items. This might be having a specific shelf for your handbags, a clothing rail with your favourite bodycon dresses, or perhaps a stand with your favourite shoes. This will help to add something interesting to the space as well as making your favourite pieces easy to access!
