Vaping is on the rise, with new users popping up everywhere.

The cost of vaping is far less than smoking cigarettes — even considering the maintenance, replacement parts, and constant purchase of e-juice.

The most expensive thing in vaping is the set-up cost.

Just like anything else you own or use, taking care of your vape device is critical to the health of the device, yourself, and your pocket.

If you take a trip to your local vape shop you will find a huge selection of devices, parts, and flavourful e-juices.

Caring for your device

Depending on the size of your tank and the condition of your battery, your vape device can last 6 months or more without the need to replace it or any part of it, except for e-juice.

Certain tanks and coils can be damaged by having a very low level of e-juice — ensure that your tank remains does not run too low to prevent dry burn, burnt up coils, and a nasty tasting hit.

It is just as important for the health of your device to not overfill your tank.

To avoid issues with your battery terminal or clearomiser, clean them with a cotton bud regularly.

Clean your mouthpiece and tank often by washing them with hot — not boiling — water and allowing them to dry for 24 hours.

Keep your vape device stored in an upright position and away from water, high temperatures, direct sunlight to avoid damaging it.

To extend the battery life, keep it at least partially charged at all times, and charge fully before long trips.

Replacing parts

Your vape device contains a few parts which can and should be replaced from time to time to extend its life.

If your clearomiser has replaceable coils, you will want to replace them at least once a month.

Your atomiser should also be changed every month or so to keep it in top condition.

If you hear a gurgling noise or you get a burnt taste when you take a hit, you may need to replace your coil, clearomiser or atomiser.

Finding the right device for you

If you are new to vaping, it is better to keep it simple at first.

Find a vape device that has a censored draw activator or one simple button to press and hold during the drawing process.

Try to avoid sweet or strong flavours to avoid a foul taste as you get used to the vaping process.

Keep in mind that as you acclimate to the drawing and inhaling process, you may cough or feel a strong throat sensation — this will get better as you adapt.

Vaping is a better alternative to smoking cigarettes.

It saves you money and is better for your health, as well as the health of those around you.

Taking care of your device by cleaning the tank and coil regularly, as well as replacing the coil from time to time can make it last longer.
